Site-Specific Compliance Guidebooks

Today, there are a vast array of environmental, safety and health laws and regulations that are enforced by a multitude of national, state, and local governmental agencies.

Determining which of these thousands of legal requirements actually apply to your particular activities, products and services is often a difficult, confusing and time-consuming task. Yet, failing to accomplish this task may cause you or your company to face substantial fines or other penalties - including potential jail time.

On the other hand, if you attempt to comply with every requirement - whether applicable or not - you can incur significant costs and spend unnecessary time developing systems and programs that are not even required.

Regulatory Compliance is
Too Important to Leave to Chance

ENLAR Compliance Services helps companies identify their own unique compliance requirements through the development of an individually-tailored Site-Specific Compliance Guidebook. This Guidebook provides a concise and easy-to-understand summary of the environmental, safety and health regulations that actually apply to your organization.

This will help you:

  • Identify required systems and procedures
  • Prioritize your compliance efforts
  • Meet regulatory recordkeeping and reporting deadlines

You can focus on implementing your programs instead of spending your time navigating agency web sites and attempting to decipher legal jargon.

In addition, ENLAR can continue to monitor, on an on-going basis, those laws and regulations that are likely to impact your company in the future. This service will help you ensure you have programs and systems in place to meet any new legal requirements.

Understand your legal obligations before
regulatory agencies come knocking at your door!

Contents of each Guidebook

  • List of Compliance Requirements by Subject Area
  • Detailed Compliance Summaries for each Legal Requirement
  • Individually-Tailored Compliance Assessment Checklists
  • Information on Accessing Regulatory Requirements
  • Contact Information for Regulatory Agencies

The ENLAR Site-Specific Compliance Guidebook provides a concise and easy-to-understand summary of the requirements applicable to your organization.

Role in an Environmental Management System

Section 4.3.2 of ISO 14001 requires that the organization develop a procedure to "identify and have access to legal and other requirements to which the organization subscribes, that are applicable to the environmental aspects of its activities, products or services." These identified legal requirements must be taken into account in establishing, implementing and maintaining your management system.

Section 4.5.2 of ISO 14001 requires that procedures be put in place to periodically evaluate your compliance with those legal requirements that have been identified.

An ENLAR Site-Specific Compliance Guidebook will help meet these requirements.

First, it identifies your legal requirements by subject area.

Second, in the compliance summaries, it identifies how these legal requirements will need to be managed within your management system by identifying recordkeeping, training, operational control and measuring and monitoring requirements.

Third, it sets out how each regulation can quickly and easily be accessed using paper, electronic and web-based resources.

Finally, the compliance assessment checklists will assist you in evaluating your compliance with those legal requirements that have been identified.
