Our focus is on helping organizations improve the value obtained from their EHS investments. Thea Dunmire ENLAR's President, Thea D. Dunmire, has a unique and diverse background. In addition to an engineering degree (BSE in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Iowa), Ms. Dunmire has a law degree (Juris Doctor, Magna Cum Laude from Syracuse University College of Law). She is also a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and an RABQSA-certified EMS Lead Auditor. She has assisted a variety of organizations with the management of EHS issues. She has also conducted EMS and OHSMS registration audits in a variety of industries. She was an Assistant Regional Counsel with the United States Environmental Protection Agency and practiced several years as an environmental attorney. She is a professional speaker and trainer who has engaged audiences for many years. Experience: 10/96 - present: Environmental, Safety and Health Consulting EHS consulting focusing on implementation and maintenance of environmental, safety and health management systems. Activities include management system audits, compliance evaluations, preparation and review of policies and procedures, ISO 14001 and OHSMS gap assessments, preparation of customized training materials and courses, and individualized research on EHS issues. 5/89 - 10/96: Attorney -- Private Practice Reviewed technical documents, prepared contractual documents, and negotiated settlement documents to deal with the EHS issues associated with Superfund sites, real estate transactions, corporate mergers and on-going compliance issues. Assisted clients in establishing corporate policies and periodic audit programs. Advised clients on permit applications (air, water, hazardous waste and stormwater) and record keeping requirements under environmental and OSHA laws. Managed remediation projects as an active member of Superfund-site technical committees and as liaison counsel for a group of companies responding to an EPA 106 Order. Co-mediator for resolving Superfund liability for 20+ companies at three Superfund sites. 6/87 - 5/89: Assistant Regional Counsel -- US EPA Worked on environmental cases involving hazardous waste, Superfund and permitting issues. Developed both national and regional procedures for handling cost recovery cases. Negotiated settlement documents and developed alternative dispute resolution procedures. Received Regional Administrator's Award for Excellence for teaching and facilitating Environmental Risk Assessment course and recognized for mediation efforts involving resolution of Superfund case involving the City of Youngstown, Ohio. 1978 - 1986: Industrial Hygienist/Safety Professional Audited the safety and health programs of both domestic and international operations of a Fortune 500 company for compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements. Worked on projects in many areas of industrial hygiene and safety including accident investigation, sampling of toxic chemicals, employee safety training, establishing personal protective equipment programs and hazardous chemical control programs.
